Foreign Office to Bourd of Trude.
Foreign Office, September 12, 1907. I LAID before Secretary Sir E. Grey your letter of the 29th ultimo, in which the Board of Trade suggest that an Agreement should be come to with the Japanese Government for the mutual protection of British and Japanese trade-marks in China.
I am directed to inclose, for the information of the Board, a copy of a despatch addressed to His Majesty's Chargé d'Affaires at Tôkiô on the 31st May last, instructing him to approach the Japanese Government with a view to the conclusion of such an Agreement.
A further despatch, of which a copy is also inclosed,† has now been addressed to Sir C. MacDonald inquiring how the negotiations are progressing.
